Attaching a trackable file to an email
While you can attach files directly to an email or to a smart email, sometimes these attachments are not delivered to your recipients.
Some mail servers remove file attachments for security reasons, or if the size of the attachment exceeds the limit allowed by the server, or if the organization has strict policies in place that restrict the transmission of certain file types via email.
The better way to send attachments via email is to create a trackable media asset or assets and link to them instead.
Steps to attach a trackable file to an email:
Upload the file to the Media Center. [Read instructions here]
Create a trackable link for the file. [Read instructions here]
Copy the trackable link.
Add a download text or button in your email and use the trackable link as the hyperlink.
If you're attaching multiple files, repeat steps 1-4 as needed.
Benefits of attaching trackable files:
Your contacts will always receive the attachments and there is no risk that the links will be stripped off from the email
You can send large file attachments if neeeded
Because these are trackable files, you can track how many have dowloaded the files and who are they
You can trigger an automation when someone downloads and views a trackable file
You can create a rules-based list of all contacts who have downloaded a trackable file
